Many Paths to the Same Summit
Hinduism is a forgiving religion open to many new ideas because of its thought based beliefs, its only fitting that they would accept other religions. They consider our journey to be mountain everyone is climbing, we can start at different parts of the bottom but we are all climbing the same mountain. As Smith put it, we usually begin our ascent from our native plains but those who run circles around the base attempting to bring others to their own path, have not begun their climb. Hinduism has four paths discussed earlier, knowledge based, love, experimental, and action based. But they acknowledge that other paths will also bring liberation. This includes Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and other religions in general. Smith quoted Ramakrishna's words "As a mother, in nursing her sick children, gives rice and curry to one, and sago arrowroot to another, and bread and butter to a third, so the Lord has laid out different paths for different people suitable for their natures" (Smith 74).
